Most of these rain gauges are located in the Santa Cruz Mountains in Santa Cruz County in central California. The Santa Cruz Mountains are usually the rainiest part of the Bay Area. Some parts average well over 60 inches of rain per year. The rain gauges are all set up and maintained by the webmaster of WeatherPages.com who drives 80-120 miles to check them every time it rains (and it's all just for fun).
